Motovlogging helmet setup for GoPro

I never thought that I would get into motovlogging. I like traveling as my regular readers would know. These days I have developed a close emotional attachment with my bike. I have a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 CC. So I decided to start motovlogging along with vlogging. So in this article, I would tell you everything about the motovlogging helmet setup that I am using for moto vlogs. This is going to be the best helmet setup for motovlogging in India. A lot of motovloggers are using this setup as a standard setup for their YouTube videos. Let us take a look at the best helmet setup for motovlogging in India.

I am listing down the components and the things that I used in this setup. I would also be embedding a YouTube tutorial video in the end so that you can watch how this setup is done. To watch my vlogs please subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Good Quality Motovlogging Helmet(Branded)

motovlog helmet setup

The most important component of this setup is the helmet. DO NOT COMPROMISE ON THE HELMET. I value my life and I decided to go for a good quality certified helmet instead of buying a cheap one. You can get a helmet ranging from INR 700 to INR 3,000,00. Now I am not telling you to invest that much into the helmet. Any decent helmet you will get in the market for INR 4k to 5k. I got an SMK helmet for INR 4000 and it is a pretty good helmet.

Ensure that you get a helmet with detachable padding. This comes in handy when you need to wash and clean the padding. This is needed especially in a warm climate where people sweat a lot.

There are other brands too, but I would suggest that you put in at least 4k to 5k in a helmet. Cheap helmets won’t save you from accidents good quality helmets will.

I am listing few helmet brands to help you out that are considered as best helmet for motovlogging.

Helmet Chin Mount Strap

best helmet chinstrap for motovlogging

I saw a lot of videos where folks were using M-Seal 🙂 to stick the GoPro mount to their helmet. What is with the “JUGAD” guys? LOL. I used a chin mount strap for mounting the camera case. The reason why I did not use an M-seal is that firstly, I do not want to damage the paintwork on my expensive helmet. Secondly, M-seal can break and your camera can fall, but the chin strap mount is a sure shot and effective way of keeping your camera safe.

Chinstrap mount is easy to attach with your helmet and unlike M-Seal which takes a lot of time to get fixated on your helmet, it is an instant fix.

Moreover, your helmet stays safe, with no paint damage no structural damage when you take off the chin mount. Also, M-seal does not match the color of your helmet so it looks very ugly unless you paint it with the color of your helmet.

Action Camera

GoPro 7 black | best helmet for motovlogging India

First, you need to have a camera to record. I have been using GoPro 5, GoPro 7 Black, & GoPro 8 Black for some time. GoPro 8 Black I use it for my vlogging and the Hero GoPro 7 Black I am using in my motovlogging setup. I get all my stuff from Amazon, click this link to get your own GoPro today. The price of GoPro’s is usually on the higher side. I am including a list of other action cameras available in the market, that you can choose as per your budget.

Any other than the cameras listed above I do not find them worth it as the video quality is very poor. I trust only the bands above with GoPro taking the highest place.

GoPro External Mic Connector/Adaptor

GoPro AAMIC-001 3.5mm Mic Adapter for external mic connection

I am using GoPro 7 Black for my motovlog helmet setup. So I had to buy this GoPro external mic connector so that I can attach an external microphone. Personally, I do not know why GoPro made this adaptor? Furthermore, the camera should have had a microphone jack which is missing. Anyways this external adaptor comes at INR 4000 on Amazon.

This adaptor has a type C pinout that goes into the GoPro’s charging slot. When you have this connection you can not charge your GoPro. So I would advise you to get extra batteries for your action cam as you know this camera’s battery drains out a little faster. I have got two additional batteries from Amazon.

External Case for GoPro and Mic Adaptor

I used to hate everything that China was making after this COIVD-19 outbreak. But seriously, there are some useful things that they have built. For an e.g. this ULANZI case for hero GoPro 6,7,8 and works like a charm. This case is good in quality and I can vouch for it. Plus this case has a separate compartment for your GoPro mic adaptor. So all you need to do is put your GoPro in the case, slide the adaptor in the compartment below and connect them. So now your case is ready with your action camera and adaptor ready to be connected to an external microphone.

ULANZI V2 Vlogging Protective Housing Case Shell – Click here to buy

External Microphone

I do not want to get into a debate as I used cheap quality ones and expensive ones. Bottom like the most branded you take the better audio/sound quality you get. For e.g. I used a cheap one which was Maono AU-400 Lavalier Microphone this comes in just INR 480 approx. The audio quality was ok, not great though, but I can’t complain either. You cant have world-class results in just 500 bucks.

Expensive ones and branded microphones from brands like BOYA, RODE, JBL, etc. will give you better results. They are expensive but then they are worth every penny.

One Important thing to watch out when purchasing mic is taking a look at the pins and the rings on it. There are two types of microphone jacks.

TRS

This stands for tip, ring, and sleeve. (TRS) Easy to identify as they only have two rings on the jack. For a detailed understanding of this TRS, you need to check this article. However, to make it easy this is what most of the lavalier microphone has.

TRRS

This stands for tip, ring, ring sleeve. (TRRS) This jack has three rings that are clearly visible. This kind of connector you find on computers and mobile devices. Also, in the GoPro connector, you will find this jack type. Check out this article for more information.

Bottom line is that for GoPro cameras, you need to have a microphone with a TRS jack. If you have a TRRS mic, you will need a TRRS to TRS adapter for it to work. Although, microphones like the one I got comes with a connector. If not you can purchase one from Amazon. This is available easily.

Now you have everything you need for the best helmet setup for motovlogging

Let us setup up this thing.

Physical Setup (Best helmet for motovlogging India)

  • I removed the internal padding of the helmet first so that I can place my lavalier microphone inside my helmet. The placement of the microphone has to be either on the left or right. Do not place it in front of your mouth, as it might record your breathing and the audio might not be clear. The wires are long so make sure that the wiring is placed properly with no extra wire hanging around.
  • The second step includes attaching the chin mount to the helmet. Make sure that the straps are buckled up tightly and the mount should not move. This might take a little time but make sure the attachment of the mount is firm.
  • Now place the GoPro inside the ULANZI housing and also the GoPro mic adaptor. Make sure that the requirements are safe inside the housing. Note: You will have to remove the GoPro battery and connection compartment cover. This means that GoPro will no longer be protected from water, please make a special note of this.
  • Now with the help of additional connectors of GoPro attach the ULANZI case with GoPro and adaptor to the chin mount.
  • Finally, connect the microphone to your GoPro adaptor, you need to use a TRS to TRRS connector for this without which it won’t work. Although this adaptor connects a wide range of external 3.5mm mics

GoPro Setting (Best helmet for motovlogging India)

  • Now let us set up the settings on our GoPro
    • Go to GoPro preferences
    • Turn off the wireless connection else you will get cracking sound in your audio
    • Now go and tap the back button to go to preferences again
    • Scroll all the way down to input/output
    • Go to audio input in the menu (Second option)
    • The default setting is an external mic (Used in case of non powered mics)
    • Microphone + is an additional boost if your mic is not that powerful
    • A powered mic is when you have an external self-powered microphone (Not to be used in our scenario)
    • Go to your protune settings now
    • Scroll to the bottom you will get two options raw audio and mic
    • Raw Audio: It just creates a separate audio file, leave it as of this is not required
    • Microphone Setting: It has three settings, Auto, wind, and stereo, leave it to stereo
  • We are done, put on your helmet, and go motovlogging.

Lockdown in Jaipur! The ugly truth as seen by my lens!

Before I start, this is not an attempt to mislead anyone. I am just clicking pictures and keeping facts in front of everyone. I am not in favor or against any political party. Sharing what I see happening around me and most of which frustrates me to the core. I stay in Jaipur, so I am going to tell you about the lockdown in Jaipur 2021 imposed by the state government.

Lockdown in Jaipur today marks the 4th day when most of the things are shut. This article will also be synced with the lockdown in Jaipur news figures. Read more about Jaipur on my blog. So keep on checking this article for regular updates. Lockdown in Jaipur, timing is from, well usually starts at 5 AM and ends at 8 PM. Before I take you further, look at the alarming COVID-19 stats below.

Alarming COVID-19 Stats

Let us talk about Covid-19. Over 185,000 dead just in India. If we talk about the world that figure goes to 3,075,916 dead and counting. Check the real-time COVID-19 stats here. If you look at the % at such an immense level almost 0.01% of our country has been wiped out by COVID-19. The world has lost 0.4% of the population as an effect of this virus. Let us come back to the point i.e lockdown in Jaipur and the ugly truth.

Lockdown in Jaipur today

Today is April 23rd, 2021, as usual, I am going to my office. Most of you wondering why am I not following the lockdown. This is because I work in an IT firm. As per the last “Lockdown in Jaipur 2021 guidelines” IT companies and IT-enabled services/firms are exempted from this lockdown. For more detailed guidelines refer to this PDF I am embedding below that comes directly from the government source. You can download the PDF and share it with your friends so everyone is aware of the guidelines and work in tandem with the authorities.

So, now you know why I am out of my home during these tough times. So I got out of my house and drive towards my office. Due to this COVID-19 situation, I am avoiding going on my bike. I love riding the bike more than driving a car. I guess I need to wait some more time to get back on my Royal Enfield Bullet.

So, now you know why I am out of my home during these tough times. So I got out of my house and drive towards my office. Due to this COVID-19 situation, I am avoiding going on my bike. Lockdown in Jaipur news! What media reports.

I hate these media wars. In other words, half of the news these days is just manufactured. Journalism is dead, sensationalism is what is prevailing in today’s world. Half of them are supported by the ruling party the other half by the opposition and they keep on spreading fake news and a very minute fragment of real news. Exactly, what is happening on the national level too.

The media’s narrative is a little different they just tell you about the lockdown in Jaipur its timing. Most of the news articles online did not mention the complete guidelines. No clue why?

Let me show you the truth, what’s actually happening on the roads of Jaipur when the lockdown is in place. Lockdown in Jaipur today or be it any days is a joke and authorities have completely failed at every narrative.

Essential Services to Stay Open

The government nodded and said yes for the essentials shops to be opened. I have absolutely no clue if “Alcohol” is essential too? Liquor shops are opened till 5 PM. It was quite inevitable since government gets a lot of money from liquor selling.

A big NO to the social distancing

This wine shop got my attention as evident there seems to be no concept of social distancing here. The government doesn’t care about you they care about the money they make. Wink 🙂 This is an essential service though, if not for you then I am sure for others.

Lockdown in Jaipur timing

The time of the lockdown keeps on changing every now and then. Starting Monday the essential services will be open from 6 AM in the morning till 11 AM. Rest of the time everything will be closed. There is another guideline that was released a day before.

What ever be the timings, people out side has no affect or fear of COVID as folks without masks can be seen very often.

lockdown in Jaipur today April 2021 lockdown in Jaipur 2021
Sitting in public transport without mask

It is lockdown in Jaipur today, I went outside to get some stuff and you can see people gathered in groups and not adhering to the guidelines set. Whatever may be the reason, these daredevils need to get their head in the right place. Coz if this continue they will end up in hospital fighting for their life blaming the government.

Lockdown in Jaipur News

News seems to be faulty and baseless. Authentic news is dead and what you get to read or hear is just made up news. Lockdown in Jaipur 2021 has made us realize that the problem is not with the government or the news. It is with us! Look at the images below and you see will see why COVID is spreading not because of government but us.

Seems like daily wage workers do not understand the seriousness here.

Daily wage workers are worst hit during COVID times. Most of the deaths that you are hearing about in the news is mostly with the people who work daily wages. They go out and work and are more likely to get infected. We should have prepared for this a long time ago. Complete system failure.

This madness needs to be stopped

Summing Up

The next coming days are going to be crucial. Wear your masks and avoid going in public. I would have to go out and work as IT companies are being exempted from this lockdown. Having said that not taking any chances the office premises is properly sanitized and we are keeping a strict check on the employees coming to office. I will be posting regular updates and my finding here about lockdown in Jaipur 2021 & timings. If you have any questions related to lockdown in Jaipur please let me know in the comments will try to answer them. Furthermore, be safe and stay at home.

Tanot Mata temple at Jaisalmer

If you have visited the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, you should have to go to Tanot Mata Temple because it represents a holy place for the purity and divinity of the goddess. I have personally experienced the unique aura with mesmerization at the highly-revered Tanot Mata ka Mandir.

Tanot Mata ki aarti by BSF in the temple should not be missed. BSF does this without fail in the morning and the evening. Tanot Mata in Jaisalmer is not just famous for the above-said things, but holds a great relevance and has historic significance as well. I had a chance to visit this temple on my tour of Rajasthan. This was the second temple that I visited after the Om Banna temple.

At the Tanot border and temple, the great BSF personnel is present to protect the local people. You can connect with them to know the Tanot Mata temple history and how the glory of the temple associates with the Indian Army.

If you’re interested to know how to reach Tanot and the timings for visiting the temple, just read the full article in the below sections. You can visit the temple at any time of the day, but I prefer morning and evening. This is because the Tanot Mata ki aarti is something that happens at 6 AM/PM by BSF and that is not to be missed.

Tanot Mata Temple History

In 847 AD, the highly admired Tanot Mata ka mandir has established with the idol diety. The temple has constructed after Tanot became a kingdom of the city ruled by Bhati Rajput King Tanu Rao. In 1965, the BSF supervised the temple’s maintenance, and RAC took the same responsibility later.

Ammunitions that did not explode at Tanot Mata.
Ammunitions that did not explode

Tanot Mata temple has many unique stories, and miraculous events have occurred during the Indo-Pak Wars of 1965. For instance, 3000 bombs failed to explode on the temple and the Indian Army. In 1971, the same miracle happened, and only one small unit of BSF repulsed the Pakistani Army’s sudden attack.

Tanot Mata ki aarti by BSF

Watch the electrifying atmosphere in the temple where the BSF personnel are doing the daily rituals. DO NOT MISS THIS!

How to Reach Tanot?

It is very easy to reach Tanot from Jaisalmer. I have reached Tanot within two hours via road from Jaisalmer. Different taxis are available to get the Tanot Mata ka mandir. There are private and government buses as well. You can directly go to the bus stand and inquire. When you visit the Jaisalmer, I could insist on going to the Tanot Mata temple because it gives a more memorable and devotional trip. Again do not miss the Tanot Mata ki aarti by BSF.

Wind mills on our way to Tanot from Jaisalmer.
Wind mills on our way to Tanot from Jaisalmer

I traveled on a bike to reach the temple and enjoyed a lot viewing an adventure land. You can easily rent a bike from Jaisalmer and road around the town or go to Tanot and come back. It connects the two places that are embellished with windmills and a flock of animals like deer and camels. My trip to the Tanot Mata Temple was fascinating and more devotional than none other.

Best time to visit Tanot Mata Temple?

The preferable time for visiting the Tanot Mata ka Mandir is between November and February (Winters). Here, the temperature is not high, and the weather is pleasant in these months. March till July months strictly avoidable as it gets too hot.

In Tanot, the Navratri celebrations perform during April and September, and BSF serves the free lunger. The temple is decorated with beautiful flowers, and a massive number of devotees visit the Tanot Mata Temple from all parts of India. Especially during Navratri.

Attractions near Tanot Mata Temple

I have also explored other locations near Tanot Mata ka Mandir including Jaisalmer Fort, Thar Desert, Gadisar Lake, Kuldhara, and Thar Heritage Museum. Listing all the places below.

Jaisalmer Fort

Interior of Jaisalmer fort

It would have taken a two-hour drive from Tanot temple to reach Jaisalmer Fort, also called the Golden Fort. The view of a fort mesmerizes me with its gold and yellow sandstones. It had built-in 1156 A.D. by Raja Jaisal and one of India’s largest forts. It is too crowded though. The shop owners inside the fort actually live inside the fort. They are the folks who served the king of Jaisalmer.

Thar Desert

Jaisalmer is a town amidst the desert. Nearby attraction from Tanot includes longewala border and the war museum. I had a chance to visit the border at Tanot and longewala post on my last trip. Check out the vlog below.

Visiting Tanot and Longewala Border

As we all know, the Thar desert is the largest one in India, and let’s experience the beautiful sandstones. I have enjoyed myself there, especially with camel safari, dance performances, night camps, and dune bashing. This was at sam sand dunes near Jaisalmer, do not miss the excellent scenery at sunrise and sunset at this place. The place situates at a distance of 70 km away from the temple. Check out the vlog below.

Sam Sand Dunes

Kuldhara Village

Kudhara Village near Tanot Jaisalmer
Kudhara Village

The location is famous as a ghost town and takes 2 hours from the Tanot temple. Surprisingly, I got to know why it is a so-called ghost town. The state minister in the city Mr. Salim Singh had decided to marry the village chief’s girl. Additionally, he warned that the whole village should suffer the consequences if the proposal rejects. The village people moved away from the place not to agree with the minister’s demand, and the location abandoned not to see the human settlement again.

Thar Heritage Museum

Thar Heritage Museum
Thar Heritage Museum

You can visit the museum in the primary market only. As I was excited to know the historical things, I went to the museum and learned the culture, history, and architecture structures at the Thar Heritage Museum. However, try not to move away from the museum without experiencing the animated puppet show.

So this was all about the Tanot Mata temple and the places nearby that you can visit on your trip to Tanot Jaisalmer. If you have any questions related to the Tanot Mata Temple in Jaisalmer, please leave them in the comment section below.

I was looking around on the internet and found not one article where all the running groups are listed together. So, I am creating one. Running is an amazing sport and post COVID I see a lot of people in my city getting conscious about their fitness. Some started cycling some decided to run.

Whatever you do keep yourself fit is good. I do not run much. Having said that I am a part of a big fitness community here in Jaipur. Sunset from Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh is the best among the sunset places in Jaipur.
Sunset as witnessed from Nahargarh fort in Jaipur

Nahargarh Fort is one of the epic places for sunset in Pink City. It is located on the hills above the city with an impressive wall lookout. But, you need to pay an entry fee for experiencing the interior view of the fort. It has easily accessible viewpoints and walls. You can enjoy the panoramic views of the city along with the sunset. You can also visit Madhavendra Bhavan, the restaurant, Nahargarh Fort Museum, and Padao bar inside the fort.

Two different paths are available to reach the Nahargarh Fort. One is through a long winding hill road that starts at Kanak Ghati. You can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to a destination. The second route is an old route from an old city area for pedestrians. The path almost takes 15 to 20 minutes for walking. However, the way costs a minimum, and you can see some beautiful views of Jaipur city while walking on this route.

Sunset in the pink city from Amer Fort

Amer fort during evening time!

I could say Amer Fort is also the most incredible place to enjoy the sunset in Jaipur city. The viewpoint comprises a series of alluring gateways and arches, spectacular ramparts, intelligent architectural towers, and courtyards.

You can take 20 to 25 minutes of travel from Jaipur city via road to reach Amer Fort. I suggest you start earlier to view the sunset point at Amer Fort. You wouldn’t be allowed to walk on the Fort, unlike Nahargarh Fort. In case you like a morning hike check out the Sagar trek near Amer fort. This place is amazing and very near to the Amer fort.

Sunset in the pink city from Amer fort viewpoint

Amer fort view point is amazing for sunrise and sunset.

You need not go to another distant place to view the sunset from Amer Fort. Because Jaipur Wall or Amer Wall locates opposite the Amer Fort, it is also the popular sunset spot in Jaipur. This sandstone wall resides along the Aravali Mountains. I call this as Amer fort viewpoint, read more.

I enjoyed the location and beautiful scenery of sunset by climbing the wall. You would also definitely admire the incredible views from its tower points. The picture is from the morning as I was unable to find an evening picture for this point. However, you can see how the Amer fort stands proudly in front of this point. Now imagine the sun coming down right in front of where we are sitting in the image. Watch the vlog for Amer fort viewpoint below and subscribe to my channel.

Jal Mahal is among the best sunset places in Jaipur

This place has amazing view of sunrise and sunset both! Don’t miss Jalmahal if you are headed towards the pink city.

Jal Mahal is the must-visit place for sunset in Jaipur because the view is impressive when I observed from the banks of the lake. To explore Jal Mahal’s interior, you should take a boat tour as it locates on the Island within Man Sagar Lake.

You need to travel 4 Km on Amer Road to reach the destination of Jal Mahal. Are you excited to see the best sunset point? Then, you should head on to the Jal Mahal and mesmerize yourself with its magnificent mountain backdrop during sunset. The lake beautified with the migratory birds in addition to the sunset view. If you’re a nature lover, please don’t skip the place in your travel list of Jaipur city. Do you love migratory birds? There is another place near Jaipur which is famous for bird sightings. Check out Chandlai lake near Jaipur, this place is awesome.

Sunset from Surya Mandir AKA Sun temple

Sun temple is a great place for sunrise and sunset!

Surya Mandir’s name itself resembles the sunrise & sunset point in Jaipur. This temple provides an excellent vantage point to watch the sunrise & sunset in Jaipur. When you go to this place, you will find a unified experience of peace and a fantastic sunset viewpoint. This sounds exciting to check out this article that I wrote on the sun temple. This place is as majestic in the evenings as it is in the mornings. Watch the Sun temple vlog and subscribe to my channel.

You will reach the Surya Mandir on the same route of the Galta Ji temple complex, and it resides on a 200-meter hill. If you want to visit the unique place in Jaipur city, this is the best temple viewpoint and letting you experience the devotion with its atmosphere. However, you can take darshan of Surya God and get some relief from stress due to personal issues or working conditions. The place helps you to gain positivity and feel pleasure when you visit this.

Panna Meena Ka Kund (Jaipur Stepwell)

The stepwell of Panna Meena ka Kund in Jaipur for sunset in Jaipur.
The stepwell of Panna Meena ka Kund in Jaipur

Unlike other sunset spots in Jaipur, Jaipur Stepwell or Panna Meena Ka Kund is different from its unique landscapes and backdrops. It comes under the list of best sunset points in Jaipur and nearer to the Amer Fort.

I could highly recommend you to visit the Jaipur Stepwell for sunset to gain a unique experience. You can also capture the best shadows and symmetrical steps of Stepwell. Before an hour of evening in Pink City, climb the Stepwell and enjoy the epic view of the Fort and Aravalli Mountains.

Sunset at Statue Circle, Jaipur

Plus of statue circle is that besides the sunset you get spectacular Jaipur’s street food

You can also check out the impressive view at Statue Circle. Here, the location is beautiful when the sun is about to set. So, have a lookout at the sunset while traveling on the same route. Enjoy nature’s beauty when you visit this location during the evening. You are going to get amazing Jaipur’s street food here. So, this place is heaven for foodies and coffee lovers. This place is also famous in the running community as it is adjacent to the central park which is a runner’s paradise. Check out these places in Jaipur ideal for run and jog.

Hot Air Balloon to witness all the places to see the sunset in Jaipur

Hot air balloon safari in Jaipur to watch sunset is amazing

Jaipur Hot Air Balloon is not an exact sunset point, but trust me, it gives you the best sunset point with the hot air balloon ride in Jaipur. Here, the operators are professional and very attentive so that you need not worry about the risk of your life and let enjoy the adventure experience in the Pink City. Check out Sky Waltz Balloon Safari!

If you want to go, plan for a sunrise or sunset in Jaipur and experience the incredible desert landscape with the Jaipur Hot Air Balloon.

Sagar trek in Jaipur

To say frankly, I was not really aware of the very rich, beautiful, natural, and diversified heritage of Jaipur. But, once I came to know about that, I realized through my research that as tourists, we can simply sit at the foothill of Aravalli Hills. If you are heading towards the pink city I highly recommend Sagar trek in Jaipur. This trek can be done in the morning. Sagar trek near Amer AKA Sagar lake trek AKA Sagar hike in Jaipur is very popular among tourists. This place is heaven, especially during the rainy season. Especially the view of Sagar Lake near Amer.

From that place only, we can enjoy the wondrous wildlife, scenic as well as floral beauty of the whole place. I found out that the Sagar trek in Jaipur usually starts with the Jal Mahal Place. When I further progressed and delved deep, I found out that there is a wonderful Sagar Lake in Jaipur. A ravishing jungle and a mesmerizing lake cover Sagar Lake in Jaipur.

Overview of Sagar Lake in Jaipur

Once I researched a bit more, I got to understand that Amer is just another name of Sagar Lake itself. Thus this is to speak out to my viewers that, I eventually considered the Sagar trek in Jaipur just another version of Amer Sagar Trek. As both were coming down to the same line. On the broadway of my journey, I found out that, the primary interest of this place was Amber Fort.

Distance & Location of Tal Chappar sanctuary

The Sujangarh blackbuck Sanctuary located in Sujangarh Tehsil of Churu district in Rajasthan. We started our journey from Jaipur, reaching this spot was not a huge issue for us as it is well connected to all major cities.

Distance from prominent places

210 km from Jaipur
85 km from Churu District
132 km from Bikaner

The nearest airport is in Jaipur. Nearest railway station – Ratangarh 37 Km, Churu 85 Km

The Tal Chappar Sanctuary is on the verge of the great Thar desert, after reaching the sanctuary most areas were surrounded by grasses with very few trees. As the sanctuary receives very little rainfall every year. After traveling by road, I came across the dunes, and when we started getting closer to the park. However, upon entering from the park gate, the scene completely changes to a tree-lined avenue and reaches a scenic location. Our stay was at the Tal Chappar forest guest house.

Tal Chappar forest guest house

We had gone there a day before so that we have plenty of time to visit the next day. There are two forest guest houses near the sanctuary entrance. The guest house comes under the control of the Deputy conservator of forest Churru. Which provide basic satisfactory accommodation. We stayed there, they offer a basic double room with Ac and non Ac rooms are also available there. They served authentic Rajasthani food like Dal Batti Churma, Gatte ki sabzi I just loved the taste. In the winter the rooms are already booked if there are no rooms left then you can also stay in hotels nearby. Sharing a video log that I created when I was in the park.

The next morning I woke up early, as I was so excited to see Blackbuck. As entry before sunrise is restricted but somehow on requesting they agreed. After that, we packed our bags with some snacks because we won’t find anything to eat there. And yes the most important the camera with us. It was cold there, as it was winter season. The gate of the Tal Chappar Blackbuck sanctuary was not far from the rest house.

Timing to visit inside the Tal chappar sanctuary:- 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM

The guard at the entrance guided us about the rules that we have to follow. The rules were also written on the board of the Tal Chappar wildlife sanctuary gate. After paying the entrance fee we started from the entrance gate. The fee is different if you u travel with your vehicle or want to have a safari ride. Earlier vehicles were not permitted inside the sanctuary, but now by paying the entrance fee you take your vehicle. But we choose to walk all over the sanctuary to have a close inspection.

Finally, we were inside the sanctuary and saw a beautiful sunrise there. We drove on the different paths that lead us to a beautiful flat Golden grassland. The grass-grown there was a unique kind called Mothiya. Beyond that, I have explored numerous small ponds where rainwater collected, and these seasonal ponds are used by animals. The huge area of 900 hectares of Tal Chappar wildlife sanctuary is fenced and entirely free of grazing or other disruptions.

The Indian Gazelle

As proceeding further I saw Chinkara (Indian gazelle) running in a group. They were roaming freely, their reddish-buff summer coat with smooth glossy fur makes them more beautiful. After moving forward, I saw some of them sitting in between the golden grass as I went closer to them they ran away. Chinkaras are shy and avoid human habitation. I respected their space and did not go closer to them.

Finally, the most awaited moment came when I saw blackbuck they can be seen from a distance as they were running over the grass. Males have 35–75 cm long, ringed, though females may develop horns as well. As males are heavier and darker than females. At first, I thought Chinkara and the female blackbuck are the same. Though they were different in size.

After getting closer I saw them fighting for establishing their territory by blackbuck based on the local distribution of female groups. To ensure greater access to females. It was an amazing feeling to watch them.

Other species in Tal Chappar wildlife sanctuary

Not only I saw blackbucks there but also other species of mammals that I saw were Nilgai, Desert Fox, Indian Fox, Desert Cat, Jungle Cat, and Black-naped Hare, which were also seen there. It was surprising for me to watch the unconventional beauty and varied attractions in the desert area. Though it was small in size this sanctuary boasts the rich biodiversity within it. For me the most stunning birds are the raptors, I enjoyed watching them and  I saw most of the raptors were in the dumping ground. Then I clicked as many photographs as I can take.

Best time to visit

October to February is the best time to visit Tal Chappar Wildlife Sanctuary but fog can be an issue during peak winter. May and June can be extremely hot as the temperature increases. But the best thing about visiting in September is the migratory birds from Europe and Central Asia. Nearly 122 species of birds were commonly seen. Harrier, Eastern Imperial Eagle, Sparrow, little green bee-eater, black ibis and demoiselle crane, etc. Whereas, skylarks crested larks, ringdoves, and brown doves are seen during the whole year.

People do not know that their several acts of littering lead to a negative consequences. When animals consume plastic waste, it can block their digestive tracts. As a result, they will die. Harmful chemicals in the plastic can harm animals’ health. There are few natural habitats left, as major species are on the verge of extinction, we have to save the environment.”
